While the continuing pandemic has certainly brought a lot of challenges to L.E.A.D., it has also presented a few opportunities.
APS has limited its access to school facilities to community partners due to Covid-19. With Washington High School being home base for LEAD for over 10 years, this unexpected hurdle presented a major challenge.
Through a relationship with long time LEAD donor, David Nelson, LEAD has its first home at The MET Atlanta. We are grateful to David and his colleagues at Carter for believing in our mission and giving the L.E.A.D. Center For Youth a home base in the West End.
With our own indoor facility, we are able to have more autonomy over our sports-based youth development and education programming and can provide a more robust offering for our student-athletes. As we look to shore up expand our capacity, your support will help with:
– Staffing needs
– Services and materials associated with Covid-19 protocols
– Facility buildout (see rendering)
– Facility lease
– Security needs
